Carlos Osuna

Carlos Osuna was born in Mazatlán, Mexico, and studied voice there and at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice. In 2009 he was a member of the Opera Studio at Theatre Basel and attended masterclasses with Grace Bumbry, Francisco Araiza, Mirella Freni, Kiri Te Kanawa, Ileana Cotrubas, José Carreras and Sherrill Milnes. Invitations included the Verbier Festival, Leipzig, Heidelberg, Costa Rica, the Wiener Volksoper and the Festival Internacional de Santander. Successful appearances included Nemorino (»L’elisir d’amore«), Rodolfo (»La Bohème«), Pinkerton (»Madama Butterfly«), the title role in »Werther«, Beppe (»Pagliacci«), »From the House of the Dead« and recently Alfredo (»La traviata«) in Heidelberg. He is an ensemble member at the Wiener Staatsoper, where his roles have included Janek Prus (»The Makropulos Affair«), Pang (»Turandot«), Ismaele (»Nabucco«), Kuska (»Khovanshchina«), Tamino (»Zauberflöte für Kinder«), Big Prisoner (»From the House of the Dead«), Beppo, Tebaldo (»I vespri siciliani«), Scaramuccio (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Kudrjaš (»Kátja Kabanová«), Narraboth (»Salome«), Shepherd (»Tristan und Isolde«), Sir Hervey (»Anna Bolena«), Incroyable (»Andrea Chénier«), Nick/Joe (»La fanciulla del West«), Tybalt (»Roméo et Juliette«), Zinoviy Izmailov (»Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District«), Remendado (»Carmen«), Malcolm (»Macbeth«), Gaston (»La traviata«) and Cassio (»Otello«).
