Daniel Frank

Daniel Frank made his operatic debut as John Sorel in Menotti's The Consul at the Folkoperan in Stockholm in 2009, having previously worked for ten years as a rock singer, vocal coach and music and theatre teacher. The opera world quickly became aware of the charismatic artist with the powerful voice that covers a wide range. In spring 2010, Daniel Frank then sang the role of Severin in Kurt Weill's Silbersee, successfully making his transition from baritone to tenor. In 2011/12 he made his successful debut at Malmö Opera as Laca in Janáček's Jenůfa, which was also released on DVD. In the same season he also sang his first Don José in a new production of Carmen at NorrlandsOperan. In 2012/13 Daniel Frank made his international debut as Tannhäuser at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and returned to Malmö Opera as Tamino. He also interpreted Tannhäuser, this time in Colombia under Gustavo Dudamel. Recent and upcoming engagements include Tannhäuser at Prague State Opera, Stockholm, Bern and Leipzig, Peter Grimes, Lohengrin, Tannhäuser and Tristan in Bern and Leipzig, Paul in Die Tote Stadt at Wermland Opera and Nederlandse Reisoper, Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Gothenburg Opera and in Düsseldorf, Siegmund (Die Walküre) in Stockholm, Düsseldorf and Dortmund, Florestan (Fidelio) in Prague, Bologna and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tristan in Düsseldorf, Luxembourg and Leipzig, Siegfried (Götterdämmerung) in Dortmund, Karlsruhe and Kassel, Siegfried (Siegfried) in Dortmund and Parsifal in Düsseldorf. Several prizes and awards underline the great vocal and acting range (among others the Cultural Order of the Municipality of Uppsala or in 2012 the Birgit Nilsson Prize). Daniel Frank will make his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Siegmund on 22 June 2023.
