Arman Grigoryan

Arman Grigoryan studied at the Armenian Ballet School from 1994 to 2001, afterwards he danced for a year in the Israel Ballet. In 2002 he became a member of the Junior Ballet in Zurich and two years later of the Ballet Zurich, where he got promoted to Principal Dancer in 2007. In the 2015/16 season Arman Grigoryan was engaged as a soloist in the Staatsballett Berlin. He has danced in choreographies by Heinz Spoerli, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Uwe Scholz, Mauro Bigonzetti, Martin Schläpfer, Christian Spuck, Jiří Bubeníček and Hans van Manen among others. As a guest teacher he worked for the Bachelor program Contemporary Dance at the Zurich University of Arts and at the Ballet School Theater Basel. For his artistic work he has received several awards including gold medals from the Maia Arbatova Internatlional Ballet Competition (2002) and the International Ballet Competition Varna (2004), the Heinz Spoerli Foundation Prize (2008) and the Les Etoiles Prix des Magazine Ballet 2000 (2008). At the Prix de Lausanne 2002 he was among the finalists. At the Vienna State Ballet Arman Grigoryan is responsible for restaging Heinz Spoerli’s »Goldberg-Variationen«.
