Agustín Gomez

Agustín Gomez was born in 1993 in Rio Gallegos, Santa Cruz, Argentina, where he studied piano and music theory from an early age. At the age of 17 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he completed his undergraduate degree in Musical Composition at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, obtaining the highest grade in his graduation thesis, while also receiving training in opera singing. In 2015 he participated in the "Savannah Voice Festival", where he took master classes with the baritone Sherrill Milnes, among others. At age 21 he made his debut as a tenor soloist with Bach's “Magnificat” at the theatre Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, and entered the Superior Art Institute of Teatro Colón, where he graduated in Opera Singing. He made his professional operatic debut in 2017 in the role of Lucano in L'incoronazione di Poppea, in the role of Artemidoro in the opera La grotta di Trofonio at the Chamber Opera of the Teatro Colón,  and in Offenbach’s operetta Ba-ta-clan, at the Opera House Buenos Aires Lírica. In 2019 he went on stage in the Main Hall of the Teatro Colón as Ernesto in Don Pasquale in concert version. In 2020 he moved to Madrid after being chosen by Francisco Araiza to join the "Alfredo Kraus" Voice Chair of the Reina Sofía School of Music, where he is completing his Master’s degree in Interpretation. In 2021 he won the XXV Concurs Mirna Lacambra and made his operatic debut in Europe with Il barbiere di Siviglia as Conte d'Almaviva in Sabadell and Reus at the Opera de Catalunya. He went on stage in the Main Hall of the Teatro Real with the concert “Mozart Revolution” and most recently won the 1st prize in the VII Contest for Young Singers and Instrumentalists of the Wagneriana Association of Madrid.
