The multi-award-winning American tenor John Osborn has made an international name for himself in bel canto and French. He has celebrated great successes, among others at the Salzburg Festival, the Arena di Verona, the Paris Opera, the Paris Bastille, the Dutch National Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Zurich Opera, the Semper Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Colón, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Liceu in Barcelona, at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, in Geneva, Frankfurt, Rome, Naples with roles such as, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Léopold (La Juive), Raoul (Les Huguenots), Jean de Leyde (Le prophète), Werther, Des Grieux (Manon), Hoffmann, Nadir (Les pêcheurs de perles), Faust (Gounod and Berlioz) Cellini (Benvenuto Cellini). 2020/21 brought John Osborn to Oviedo for performances of I puritani at the Teatro Campoamor, his return to the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Hoffmann in Les contes d'Hoffmann, his debut at the Teatro Real de Madrid as Pollione in Norma, and his return to the Netherlands National Opera in a new production of Die ersten Menschen by Rudi Stephan. This role debut as Chabel was his first attempt in early 20th century German repertoire. He made his debut at the Wienetr Staatsoper in 2008 as Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and has since sung Pollione and most recently (2021) Faust here.
