Simone Schneider

The German soprano Simone Schneider has positioned herself as a sought-after singer in the youthful dramatic field with roles such as Salome, Empress (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Chrysothemis (Elektra) and Sieglinde (Die Walküre). She has already enjoyed great success with the role of Leonore (Fidelio) at the Berlin State Opera, the Hamburg State Opera under Kent Nagano and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. At the Vienna State Opera she has sung Chrysothemis and Sieglinde. Since 2006/07, Simone Schneider has been a member of the ensemble at the Stuttgart State Opera, where she has recently appeared as Elsa and in the title roles in Luigi Cherubini's Medea and Ariadne auf Naxos. Her interpretation of Salome in Stuttgart in 2015 became a sensational success. Simone Schneider is also a regular guest at the Semperoper Dresden, where she has appeared as Hannah Glawari (Die lustige Witwe), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and as Salome.  Her versatile operatic repertoire also includes roles such as Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Alice Ford (Falstaff) and Madame Lidoine (Dialogues des Carmélites). As a concert singer, Simone Schneider has appeared in works by Bruckner, Dvořák, Verdi, Strauss, Mahler, Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Beethoven, among others. The singer was born into a musical family in Hagen. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich and became a member of the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera during her final year of study, where she was particularly successful in the modern repertoire. She then became an ensemble member at the Munich Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz until 2006, where she sang roles such as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann). Highlights in 2020/21 were a staged production of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in Stuttgart, again Fidelio at the Staatsoper Berlin, Chrysothemis and Senta in Stuttgart and Sieglinde in Budapest. In 2021/22 she sings the Feldmarschallin and Sieglinde in Stuttgart, as well as Elsa in Hamburg and Leipzig.
