Aurora Marthens

The finnish born Aurora Marthens, is a member of the soloist ensemble at Wiener Staatsoper since Autumn 2022. Prior to this she was a member of the Opera House’s studio where she sang roles like Berta from the Barber of Seville in a new production 2021, Gerhilde in Die Walküre and Anna in Nabucco. In the season 2022/23 Marthens will sing roles such as Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Pamina in the Die Zauberflöte für Kinder, Fünfte Magd in Elektra and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos. Her other operatic roles include Violetta (La traviata), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), the title role in G. Donizetti’s opera buffa Rita, Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) conducted by Kirill Petrenko at the Berlin Philharmonie in February 2020.

Marthens has studied classical singing with Riikka Hakola, Elisabeth Werres, KS Linda Watson and participated in master classes with artists and coaches. Among them Konrad Jarnot, Kamal Khan, Karita Mattila. She is a prize-winner at the Helsinki Lied Competition in 2015 (1st place), the Savonlinna Opera Festival’s Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition in 2017 (1st place) and she has been a semi-finalist in the Glyndebourne Opera Cup 2018 and a finalist in the Salice d’Oro competition in 2022.
