Gianluca Capuano

GIANLUCA CAPUANO has been principal conductor of Les Musiciens du Prince - Monaco since 2019. He studied organ, composition and conducting at the conservatory in his hometown of Milan and then specialised in early music at the Scuola Civica there. He also studied theoretical philosophy at the University of Milan. He has performed as a soloist and conductor throughout Europe, the USA, Russia and Japan. In 2006, he founded the instrumental and vocal ensemble Il canto di Orfeo, with which he devotes himself to a broad Baroque repertoire. In August 2016, Gianluca Capuano gained international recognition when he stepped in at short notice to conduct Norma with Cecilia Bartoli at the opening of the Edinburgh Festival. At the podium of Les Musiciens du Prince - Monaco, Gianluca Capuano made his Salzburg Festival debut at Whitsun 2017 with Ariodante and a concert performance of La donna del lago. In the 2021/ 22 season, Gianluca Capuano conducted Le nozze di Figaro at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Il turco in Italia at the Bavarian State Opera, L'italiana in Algeri in Zurich and L'elisir d'amore in Hamburg.
