Michael Arivony

Born in Madagascar, Michael started his music education in local music schools there before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London and then in Weimar, Germany, at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt. Having been part of the Wiener Staatsoper studio from 2020 to 2022, he is now a member of the ensemble starting from the 2022-2023 season. As a singer, Michael is not only interested in opera but also in the recital repertoire of all languages. This lead him to be acknowledged in competitions such as the Helmut Deutsch International Song Competition (2021, 3rd. Prize and Public's prize), Heidelberg's Das Lied International Competition (2019, 3rd. Prize), or the Suzana Szörenyi Duo Competition (2017, 2nd Prize and Public Prize) and was finalist in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize. And residencies and participations at the Académie Orsay-Royaumont in Paris, the Krzyzowa Music Festival, Beethovenfestspiel Bonn or the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or the Beethovenfest in Bonn. His opera roles among many others consist of characters such as Dandini (La Cenerentola), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Schaunard (La Bohème) Lescaut (Massenet), Dancaïr (Carmen) and Ned Keene (Peter Grimes) among others.
