Daniel Jenz

Tenor Daniel Jenz, born in Esslingen a.N., studied at the universities of Mainz and Graz and was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Mainz State Theatre. He is a prize-winner at the 2006 National Singing Competition and was awarded the Franz Völker Prize for up-and-coming tenors in 2009. Daniel Jenz was an ensemble member at the Stadttheater Hildesheim, the Theater Lübeck and most recently at the Staatstheater Kassel. He has sung roles such as Baron Kronthal (Der Wildschütz), Tom Rakewell (The Rake's Progress), Fenton (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer) and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte). Guest engagements have taken him to the Berlin State Opera, the Frankfurt and Bonn Operas, the Hamburg State Opera, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Landestheater Linz, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. He has worked with Philippe Jordan, Marco Armiliato, Pablo Heras-Casado, René Jacobs, Sylvain Cambreling, Dennis Russell Davies, Alexander Soddy, Vasily Petrenko, Stefan Blunier and Erik Nielsen. He has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since 2020. Here he has appeared in new productions including Parsifal (3rd Squire) and L'incoronazione di Poppea (Nutrice/Primo Famigliare). His Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer) under the baton of Bertrand de Billy and his role debut as Narraboth (Salome) under Thomas Guggeis were further highlights at the Haus am Ring.
