Andrea Giovannini

Andrea Giovannini graduated as an actor in 1990 from the Acting School in Bologna directed by Galante Garrone in Bologna. After some years in theatrical companies, in 1997 Andrea Giovannini began to study as opera singer with the director Massimo Romeo Piparo, he then made his debut in the Musical as protagonist in several productions in Italy, such as: »Jesus Christ Super Star«, »My Fair lady«, »Evita«. Afterwards he made his debut as Danilo in »The Merry Widow« under Massimo de Bernart, and he investigated further the Mozart’s repertoire under the guidance of Claudio Desderi and sang the roles of  Don Ottavio, Basilio and Ferrando in many productions. Worth mentioning his participation in the historical production of »Così fan tutte« at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, with the direction of Giorgio Strehler.
Andrea Giovannini also specialized in the Rossini’s repertoire: Conte d’Almaviva in «Il Barbiere di Siviglia« at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo under Claudio Desderi and at the Festival in Tuscania, under Francesco La Vecchia; Idreno in »Semiramide« at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, under M° Gianluigi Gelmetti and then in the Tuscany Circuit.  In 2006 he also started to sing as a lyric tenor: Fenton in »Falstaff« in 2007 at the Grange Park Festival in London; Rodolfo in »La Bohème« in Dublin; Alfredo in »La Traviata« in Nurberg, Dijon and at the Saint-Cere Festival in France; il Conte di Bosco Nero in »La Vedova Scaltra« in Nice. Moreover he interpreted the role of Rinuccio in »Gianni Schicchi« in Modena; Camillo de Rossillon in »La Vedova Allegra« at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, under Daniel Oren; Alfredo in »La Traviata«; Edgardo in »Lucia di Lammermoor« in Dijon; Rodolfo and then Tamino (»Die Zauberflöte«) in Massy, where he also sang as Carlos Medina in »La Belle de Cadix« (revivals took place in Clemont- Ferrand and on tour.)
He was Nemorino in »L'elisir d'amore« with the Opera Zuid and with the Poznan Philarmonie he sang in »Giovanna D’Arco« (Carlo VII).  Most recently he has been Goro in »Madama Butterfly« with the Teatro Regio/Turin on tour in Savonlinna in Turin he also sang Caius in »Falstaff « and Don Girolamo in Paer's »Agnese«; Mitrane in »Semiramide« under Bruno Campanella in Florence; Monostatos in »Die Zauberflöte« in Fermo, Fano and Ascoli Piceno; Prunier in »La Rondine« in Moscow and in Catania; Bardolfo in »Falstaff« in Parma; Edmondo in »Manon Lescaut« in Verona (Teatro Filarmonico) and with the Opera in Rome on tour in Japan; Basilio in »Le nozze di Figaro« at the Teatro dell'Opera in Roma; Action in »West Side Story« in Roma with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra conducted by Antonio Pappano; Nino in »La Capinera« and Monostatos in »Die Zauberflöte« in Catania; l’Abate di Chazeuil in »Adriana Lecouvreur« at the Salzburg Festival and »Tosca« (Spoletta) at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.
